#Rust Engineer

As a Rust Engineer, you'll join a nimble team of Rust experts building the database infrastructure for Pydantic Logfire. You'll work on cutting-edge database technology, optimizing query execution, developing caching systems, and maintaining high-performance data ingestion pipelines.

#What you will do

• Work on an analytical database system built on top of DataFusion and Apache Arrow
• Design and implement distributed systems in Rust using Kubernetes
• Monitor system health and performance using traces / logs / metrics (we use Logfire for this!)

#Who You Are

We expect a candidate for this position to have:

• Deep experience with Rust and its ecosystem
• Experience with analytical/time-series database development, particularly with Apache Arrow and DataFusion
• Strong understanding of database query optimization and distributed systems
• Experience working with observability tools and platforms
• Commitment to performance, scalability, and developer experience
• Experience contributing to open source projects
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience

Nice to haves but not required:

• Experience working for an observability company
• Knowledge of OpenTelemetry
• Experience with Python and/or TypeScript
• Background in building developer tools
• Experience with performance optimization at scale

Some non-technical requirements:

• Live and work in a timezone between PT (UTC-8) and CET (UTC+1)
• Able to travel to EU, UK and US up to 4 times a year to join our off-sites
• Must be available to join on-call rotations, approximately 1 week out of every 10
